Business Easter Cards
There is just no question that there is a different feeling in the air around the Easter
holidays. For many the religious significance of the story of the coming of the baby Jesus is special. But for
others just the gathering of family, the bright lights and traditions and the exchange of Easter eggs makes the
entire season a happy time. So it makes sense that this is a perfect time to take advantage of all the good will
and cheer and send along Easter cards to your customers and primary business associates to greet them in the spirit
of the season.
Some might think twice about capitalizing on the Easter spirit to build your business
relationships or reach out to customers to encourage additional sales as exploitive and commercializing the
holidays. Of course, you are not responsible for the commercialization of Easter. But because so much of what
Easter is all about is good will between friends and loved ones, if you focus on the human side of your
relationships with business associates and be tasteful in the types of holiday messages you send out, you won't be
guilty of being exploitive at all.
After all, during the holidays, look around your office. Most of the employees in any office get
excited putting up Easter cards from vendors and business contacts that come in during this season. The many kinds
of cards that are sent are fun and colourful and add a lot to the good feelings of the holiday. So when you add
your cards to those many cubicle or office walls, you are just joining the celebration and making the holiday
festive for everyone. Nothing wrong with that.
You don't have to be religious to enjoy the holidays or to find a tasteful and sentimental card
to share with your business contacts. In fact, it is probably a good idea to go with a simple "happy holidays" card
when you order your supply of business Easter greetings. Your customers and business associates may be all over the
map when it comes to religious beliefs. So "happy holidays" works for people of deep Christian belief, for those
celebrating Hanukah or Kwanza or those with no particular religious affiliation who just like the holidays as much
as anyone does.
The business value of these holiday cards is the same as long as the message is warm and
relevant to the holidays. By sending along a card, you acknowledge that your relationship with that business
contact prospered in the past year. You thank the client or business contact for the good work you have done
together since the previous Easter. But above all, you quietly lay the groundwork for continued business with that
customer in the months to come.
Many times a follow up phone call to business contacts you may have fallen out of touch with
works well after laying the groundwork with a sweet and sincere holiday card. And that not only is good business,
it is being a good friend and rejoicing in the holidays even with those who work with you to prosper in the
business setting. That fits with the spirit of the season.
